A Mother's Cry, A Treasure Forever by Amy Tippitt

Dear friends and family,

I was six years old as I walked through the living room on my way to the kitchen when I saw my mom kneeling before the Lord. As a little girl, I couldn't have realized the magnitude of her prayers. As many of you are aware, my parents own a successful business in Glendora, California. Both my mom and dad invested everything into their business; as good entrepreneurs do, but times were tough and the bills were daunting. Our home mortgage was due and my parents didn't see how we were going to be able to keep the house. Out of desperation, my mom seeked the Lord for help. As she sat there that day, humbly kneeling, I watched. I leaned in. I learned. I began to understand something that I had never understood before. She didn't have all the answers. She needed something, Someone, to help her. She needed a Father to reassure her that He had everything in His hands. I had never seen my mom so vulnerable or desperate.

As Joel and I undergo this faith walk, I am at times tempted to cry out in frustration and worry about how we will pay the bills, buy groceries, and survive. But tonight, I am gently reminded of that day in my living room watching my mama kneel before the Lord and put her trust in Him and Him alone. What was a humble cry to the Lord, was a lesson I treasure today.

God did provide for my mom and dad. The mortgage did get paid and life went on as it always had before. God had provided.

Today, my parents have a thriving business, an incredible marriage, three daughters and a son-in-law that are following God. It is no surprise at all to me that they have been blessed in these ways all because of their choice to lay their troubles at the feet of our amazing Savior and Provider, Jesus Christ. My God is the same God my mama was praying to over 20 years ago, so tonight my prayer is the same.

Thank you mama for teaching me this most important lesson. Tonight, I do go before the Lord and ask Him to remove all my burdens. Mom, your line stays with me , "Why do we act surprised when our Maker provides? He hears our prayers." Those are very good words. I am praying and expecting to see God's provision. He is such a faithful Father. Perfect in every way.

God is good and ALWAYS knows exactly what we need. Thank you Father.

Beautifully said, Amy! We are so blessed to have had godly mothers, and their mothers before them. Thank you for reminding me that Elle needs to see me on my knees, in the Word, crying out, far more often than she does. I'll keep you two in my prayers as you begin your adventure (go play Great Advenure by Steven Curtis Chapman and get all spooled up :)

Hey Amy, I think of you and Joel over here in Australia! Thank you for your blog today, a great reminder of the blessings God has for us if we remember to ask! I have just accepted a job as chaplain at a local high school here and I think I will print your blog out, keep it in my wallet as a daily reminder that when we draw on God for strength and wisdom all things are possible!!! Take care. Kirsten Winkett.

Ah yes! Those lessons our parents taught us without even being aware they were teaching. They were the best lessons for me.

Thank you for sharing. It makes my faith stronger to watch you and Joel step out so confidently in what God has asked of you! You have been a wonderful example of a young couple who have followed God's lead----wherever it led. Your ministry will benefit from these months of service. Love you!
