Today was an awesome day for so many reasons. We went to church as usual and saw people surrender their lives to Jesus. Then, something happened that we were not expecting. For you to understand it fully, you will need to hear a little context so that you can understand how cool this story really is.
About a month ago, Amy and I were talking about how we wanted to celebrate our 7th wedding anniversary together and go to Charleston, SC. This was something that we wanted to do, but we were not sure if we could afford it with our budget right now. We were looking online for cheap hotels so that we could just be in the area (near a beach). Everything was so expensive that we were thinking that it probably would not work out. We then got an unexpected check that made it more possible for us to get a cheap hotel but not much more that that. So we were about to pay for a hotel online, and then a thought came to my mind... before we do this, I need to talk to Greg Dixon. Greg is a mentor of mine that is investing in me here at NewSpring. I was not sure why I needed to talk to Greg Dixon, but I told Amy to hold off in paying for a hotel. A few days after, I talked to Greg letting him know our hopes to go to Charleston with a limited budget. He gave me a few ideas and also said he knew a lot about Charleston and wanted to be our "tour guide". I shared this with Amy, but we were both still hesitant in paying for a hotel.
Ok, so fast forward to today (about 2 weeks after the conversation with Greg Dixon). Amy was in the "Green Room" at church today where she serves in ministry. The Green Room is a place/environment were 1st time guests go and learn about the church and hang out... very cool environment. Anyways, she was called over by a Green Room leader to talk to this 1st timer who was just told our story about moving to South Carolina in faith. She (being the leader) wanted to introduce Amy to this first timer. When Amy walked over, this woman introduced Amy to "Greg". Greg started sharing some of his story with Amy about how he had just moved into the area to take seminary classes nearby and used to live in Charleston. Amy got excited and shared how she had wanted to go to Charleston for our anniversary. This man spoke up and said "You can stay at our house if you want!" No one was living there and he said we could use it really whenever we wanted. Here is the cool part. When we said we were interested and asked for his contact information so that we could call him this week, he wrote down on a paper his name and phone number. Can you guess what his name was? Yep... Greg Dixon!
I love how creative God is in showing how awesome He is! He knows and cares about us.....even the little stuff. We have been blessed.
