Hebrew word for turning- שוב

I am reading in scripture right now how Israel keeps turning away from God, then returning to God. Over and over... I remember a sermon from a long time ago, I believe that it was from a professor at PLNU who said that God wanted to heal the Israelites "Turningness". The Hebrew word for that is Shuwb (שוב ). I love how God wants to "Kill in us what is trying to kill us (Sin)" Clayton King. If there is something that is in us that is encouraging us to turn away from God in any way, God wants to restore in us holiness. Pursuing God is the pursuit of change. II Peter 3:18 "But GROW in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ". Christians grow and change into His likeness. Jesus wants to have all of us and change the desire in us to turn away from Him (He wants to heal our Turningness).
