So, if for some reason, you did not get a letter of support in the mail this week, we are sorry. We must not have your address, because we sent it out to almost everyone we know. If you are interested in the letter, you are also welcome to pass it on to anyone that would want to pray for us and support us.
Here is the letter!
Dear Friends & Family,
Fourteen years ago, I first heard the voice of God as I was driving my car on the 210 freeway in Monrovia, CA. It was a moment that God spoke and literally saved my life. That experience changed everything! I have been living to hear and follow His voice ever since. I have had other encounters with God since then, where I have needed to make a choice. Each time I have followed and seen God move in miraculous ways. When we follow the voice of God, He never promises that it will be easy, but He does promise to be with us (Matthew 28:20b).
We are writing this letter to you today to share what God is doing in our lives and what He is preparing for us now. God is calling me to volunteer full time at a church in Anderson, South Carolina called NewSpring Church (www.newspring.cc) starting in March. I believe God will be using this opportunity at NewSpring to grow and refine what the Nazarene church passionately ignited in my heart years ago within the areas of evangelism and discipleship. I have been in communication with some of the pastors on staff at NewSpring and they are very excited about us coming. The Lord is already preparing the way for us. The deep joy in our obedience has already begun as God has unified Amy and I with this great adventure.
I have resigned from my ministry position at Santa Rosa Nazarene Church (effective end of February) and Amy has resigned from her second grade teaching position. She has taken the necessary steps to obtain her South Carolina teaching credential, but is not yet employed there. Amy and I are trusting God’s call and are literally leaving everything to follow. “So they pulled their boats up on shore, left everything and followed him [Jesus].” Luke 5:11 We do not know what the future holds, but God is giving us the grace of knowing this next step. My new pastor (Perry Noble) once said, “Having to have all the answers before taking a ‘step of faith’ isn’t faith”.
Due to the reality that we both do not have jobs, we are calling upon the Body of Christ to help sustain us in some very practical ways. The most important way that we are needing support is through prayer; that God would continue to reveal Himself and His plan for us as ministers of the Gospel of Christ. We would like to ask that you place our picture strategically and every time you see it, you would pray. Secondarily, we will have financial needs. We are praying for committed financial supporters that want to partner with us and God for up to six months (less depending on employment). We have been blessed through Santa Rosa Nazarene Church by having a fund created that any money donated to us would be a 100% tax write off for you (you will receive an end of the year tax statement from the church). You would just need to send your checks to:
Santa Rosa Nazarene Church
1135 Farmers Lane
Santa Rosa, CA 95405
